The bulk shipping freight rates have remained stable as shipping activities were almost suspended in most of the Australian ports.
Ports in the Queensland region of Australia have not yet resumed after the recent Debbie cyclone damaging the associated rail infrastructure connecting the ports, restricting transportation of cargoes to ports.
In a recent development, the Abbot Point Coal Terminal is heard to be resuming normal operations by the coming Thursday.

The Baltic Dry Index has climbed up to 1,296 points, as on 13Apr’17, from 1,231 points, as on 10Apr’17, due to the bullish sentiments arising out of the prospect of substantial gain in cargo shipping activity after the Australia ports resume normal operations.
