The 5th largest iron ore exporter Canada has exported 2.97 MnT iron ore in Feb17 as per trade statistics released by Canadian Customs.
Iron ore export has registered a decrease of 7% M-o-M as it was around 3.18 MnT in Jan’17. Similarly country’s iron ore exports have decreased by 11% Y-o-Y compared with the month of Feb’16
In first two months of 2017, the country exported 6.15 MnT iron ore, up by 6% as the export was 37.17 MnT last year for the same period.
In Feb’17, the agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) exports were registered at 1.32 MnT down 1%, compared to Jan’17 which was at 1.34 MnT, however, were up by 3% Y-o-Y as it was 1.28 MnT in Feb’16.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps & fines) exports were registered at 2.97 MnT in Feb’17, down M-o-M by 7% as it was 3.18 MnT in Jan’17. It was down Y-o-Y as well by 11% at it were 3.34 MnT in Feb’16.
1. France was the largest iron ore importer for the month with 0.55 MnT iron ore up 2.4% in Feb’17 against 0.54 MnT in Jan’17. The nation imported 0.39 MnT iron ore in Feb’16.
2. Japan was the second largest importer with the quantity of 0.46 MnT iron ore in Feb’17 down by 19% M-o-M against 0.56 MnT in Jan’17. The nation had imported 0.17 MnT iron ore in the month of Feb’16.
3. Belgium turned out to be the third largest iron ore importer at 0.30 MnT for the month of Feb’17, up 35% as it was 0.22 MnT in Jan’17. The nation had imported 0.23 MnT iron ore in Feb’16.
