Bangladesh Monthly Coal imports have fallen by 43% M-o-M to 0.26 MnT in Mar’17 after achieving two-year high imports of 0.46 MnT in Feb’17.
Imports have also fallen on the yearly basis by 19% compared with 0.32 MnT in Mar’16, according to the provisional data collected by CoalMint research and Bangladesh Port website.
Bangladesh has lowered their coal imports in the current fiscal year i.e., FY17 which started from Jul’16 and will end on Jun’17. During Jul’16-Mar’17, the country has imported 1.96 MnT down by 32% Y-o-Y compared with 2.87 MnT during the corresponding months of the previous fiscal year.
Major Exporting Countries:
Indonesia is the major coal exporter to Bangladesh. Mozambique, South Africa, Australia and India supply the remaining coal shipments to Bangladesh.
However, During Mar’17, Bangladesh has received coal from Indonesia only. Indonesia exported about 0.26 MnT in Mar’17, monthly exports decreased by 32% compared with 0.38 MnT in Feb’17.
Exports from Indonesia also fell by 10% Y-o-Y compared with 0.29 MnT in Mar’16.
