As per the data released by Robindesbois, 936 ship were dismantled globally during CY’16 against 768 ships dismantled in CY’15. India was the top destination for ship breaking in CY’16 with 319 ships dismantled during the period, followed by Bangladesh (233) and Pakistan (132).
Tonnage recovered by the major countries from ship breaking was around 9,337,000 MT, registered a growth of 40% Y-o-Y against 6,649,000 MT recovered in CY’15.
