According to preliminary custom data, Brazil’s slab export witnessed a surge of 12%, M-o-M basis to 0.72 MnT in Mar’17 as compared to previous month. In Feb’17’ the same stood at 0.61 MnT .
Although on yearly basis, Brazil slab exports soar by 38% in Mar’17 against 0.52 MnT in Mar’16.
However, in duration of Jan-March of 2017 the nation has shipped 2.02 MnT, shoot up by 42% against 1.42 MnT in the similar time period of previous year.
USA remained the largest importer of Brazilian slab in Mar’17.
In Mar’17, United States was the foremost buyer and imported 0.29 MnT, followed by Argentine, South Korea and Germany.
CSP to Produce 2.70 MnT Slab in 2017
CSP, largest Brazilian slab producer is planning to produce 2.70 MnT of slabs this year against 1 MnT produced last year. In first two months of 2017 company has produced 5,31,000 MT of slabs. However company has planned to export its major part of slab production to Italy, USA, Mexico, Thailand, Italy and Czech Republic.
Slab Export Offers
Slab export offers from Latin America are assessed in the range of USD 420-425/MT, FoB basis. Whereas slab export offers from CIS countries are range of USD 420-430/MT on FoB basis.
However, import offers from South East Asian Countries are in the range of USD 430-435/MT,CFR basis.
