According to pellet rake movement data maintained with SteelMint, movement by eastern India based pellet plants in Mar’17 doubled against previous month. Major eastern India based pellet makers dispatched 36 pellet rakes last month compared to 18 rakes in Feb’17.
Pellet rake movement of Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) jumped two-fold in Mar’17. from 15 rakes in Feb’17 to 35 rakes in Mar’17. Bhushan Steel procured 20 pellet rakes from JSPL in Mar’17. Tata Steel’s pellet procurement from JSPL fell to 3 rakes in Mar’17 against 13 rakes in Feb’17.
Arya Iron & Steel moved only single rake in Mar’17. The rake was supplied to Brahmaputra Metaliks.
As BRPL was seen only giving material for export purpose, therefore it did not supply material in domestic market.

Indian pellet prices moved up in Mar’17 – In line with increasing P-DRI prices, improved pellet trade activities, domestic pellet prices moved up in Mar’17. Barbil pellet prices are up by INR 300/MT while in Durgapur prices escalated by INR 200/MT M-o-M in Mar’17.
