According to the latest customs data released, Japan flat steel exports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates), 7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets), 7210/7212(GP/GC) have reported a marginal increase of 2%, M-o-M basis to 2.18 MnT in Feb’17 against 2.14 MnT in Jan’17.
If yearly comparison is made, Japan flat steel exports dropped down by 0.4 % in Feb’17 against previous year. In Feb’16 the same stood at 2.19 MnT.
However, nation’s flat steel exports have registered a marginal increase of 0.75% to 27.94 MnT in 2016 against 27.73 MnT in 2015.
Grade-Wise Japan Flat Steel exports in Feb’17
As per grade-wise analysis, 7208 exports declined by 1.7% M-o-M in Feb’17 against Jan’17 whereas 7209,7210,7212 and 7225 have witnessed the growth in Feb’17 against previous month.

Country-Wise Japan Flat Steel Exports in Feb’17
China was the major flat steel importer and 3,54,606/MT was imported from Japan in Feb’17 against 3,30,818 MT of flat steel in Jan’17. Other major flat steel importing countries from Japan include Thailand, Korea followed by Vietnam and Mexico.
