As per notification issued by the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC), the rebate on power charges during the night hours to continue till 31 May’17 which was previously applicable till 31 March’17.
According to the sources in Mandi Gobindgarh (Punjab), currently power tariff for industries is around INR 7.00/unit for peak hours and for non-peak hours (10 pm to 6 am) INR 6.00/unit, which will remain same till 31 May’17.
Usually, the electricity board in the Punjab provides rebate on power tariff during Oct-Mar for the night hours (non-peak hours, 10 pm to 6 am).
As per the notification issued on 29th Mar’17, the rebate of INR 1.00/unit per kVAh will continue for Large Supply and Medium Supply industrial categories of consumers from 10:00 PM to 06:00 AM from 1st April to 31st May, 2017.
Also, Peak Load Exemption Charges (PLEC) shall not be applicable . And the additional charge of INR 2.00 per kVAh will not be applicable till 31 st May 2017, according to the notification.
Further, the board has decided to remove PLEC (peak load exemption charges) and approved following ToD (Time of Day) Tariff for Large and Medium Supply industrial category consumers.
ToD tariff comprising of normal tariff minus rebate & plus additional charges and will be applicable from 1 Jun’17 to 31st May’18.

Under this ToD system, tariff will be higher during peak hours.
The ToD tariff system — under which consumers will have to pay more for power consumption during peak hours and less for power consumption during non-peak hours.
