During Apr-Feb’17, Indian flat steel exports have nearly doubled to 5.07 MnT.
As per government data, India’s flat steel exports under HS code 7208 (HRC,HR Plate),7209 (CRC), 7225 (electrical sheets) and 7212,7210 (GP/GC) have fallen by 9%, M-o-M basis to 0.58 MnT in Feb’17 against the previous month. In Jan’17, the same stood at 0.64 MnT.
HRC exports decreased by 6%,M-o-M to 0.32 MnT in Feb’17 against 0.34 MnT in Jan’17.Whereas CRC exports have plunged by 8%,M-o-M basis to 0.12 MnT in Feb’17 against 0.13 MnT in Jan’17.

Indian flat steel exports at 5.07 MnT during Apr-Feb’17-During the period of Apr-Feb’17 Indian flat steel exports have witnessed the significant growth of 97% to 5.07 MnT as compared to 2.57 MnT in the similar time frame of previous year. Higher global prices, increased steel production and dull domestic demand attracted Indian steel makers towards exports.
So far in FY17 (till Feb’17) India has exported 1.97 MnT HRC, 1.20 MnT CRC, 0.2 MnT plates and 1.54 MnT GP/GC sheets & coils.
