According to the latest customs data, South Korea flat steel imports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates),7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets),7210/7212(GP/GC) have witnessed an increase of 4%, M-o-M basis in Feb’17 and stood at 0.88 MnT as compared to 0.85 MnT in Jan’17.
On yearly basis, South Korean flat steel imports, decline marginally by 2.2% in Feb’17 against Feb’16. In Feb’16 the same stood at 0.9 MnT.
In CY 16 i.e. from Jan-Dec’16 country’s flat steel imports rose by 2.2% to 11.44 MnT against 11.19 MnT in CY15
Grade-wise South Korea Flat Steel Imports
If grade-wise analysis is made, then 7208 imports rose by 2.32%,M-o-M in Feb’17 against Jan’17 whereas 7225 and 7209 have shown significant growth in Feb’17 against previous month. Although, grade 7210 and 7212 declined significantly in Feb’17’against last month.

Country-wise South Korea flat steel imports in Feb’17
China remained the major flat steel exporter to South Korea and exported 5,72,536 MT in Feb’17 against 5,60,682 MT of flat steel in Jan’17.Other major flat steel exporting countries to South Korea include Japan and Taiwan.
