Indian Iron Ore Production Rise by 27% Y-o-Y for Jan’17

India’s iron ore production is witnessing significant augmentation in this fiscal and is likely to touch 180 MnT in FY17.

According to the recently released data by Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India, India’s iron ore production in Jan’17 was recorded at 18.6 MnT against 17.9 MnT in Dec’16. Thus, up by 4% M-o-M.

On yearly basis, (i.e. compared to Jan’16), Indian iron ore production has exhibited growth of 27%.

So far in this fiscal, (till Jan’17) India’s iron ore production summed up to 152.7 MnT, up 28% Y-o-Y. From Apr’15-Jan’16, India’s iron ore production was recorded at 119.13 MnT.

Iron ore production in Odisha fell sharply by 19% M-o-M and stood at 7.26 MnT in Jan’17 compared to 8.92 MnT in Dec’16. Rungta Mines (Odisha) produced 1.4 MnT iron ore in Jan’17. From Apr-Jan’17, iron ore production in Odisha stood at 75.6 MnT compared to 58.5 MnT in the same period last fiscal.

NMDC’s iron ore production increased 3% M-o-M from 3.51 MnT in Dec’16 to 3.62 MnT in Jan’17.
