Indian bar and rod imports have regained in Jan’17 M-o-M by 24%. Similar increase was reported during Dec’16 M-o-M.
Moreover, on Y-o-Y comparison it fell by 44% which was 1,505,000 MT in FY16 with a fall of 669,200 MT and stood at 836,700 in FY17 (Apr’16-Jan’17).
As per customs data available with SteelMint, total Indian bar and rod import have increased by 24% and stood at 85,050 MT in Jan’17. The import has risen consecutively from last two months. The total import of bar and rod was registered at 836,700 MT in FY17 (Apr’16-Jan’17).
The import for the finish long is comparatively less as compared to finish flat. The maximum import was registered from China which is around 37,500 MT (Overall Bar and Rod) even though there is a provisional anti dumping duty applicable on Wire Rod Imported from China under HS code 7213 and 7227.
