Japan: Manganese Ore Imports Down By 61% M-o-M in Jan’17

Japan, has witnessed a substantial decrease in its imports by 61% on M-o-M basis in Jan’17.

Japanese Manganese ore imports stood at around at 0.06 MnT in Jan’17 against 0.14 MnT in Dec’16. However, there has been a substantial increase of around 77% Y-o-Y in Jan’17 against Jan’16 import volume.

Australia, being one of the major exporters of Manganese Ore to Japan has exported 0.06 MnT in Jan’17. Japan has witnessed an increase of around 63% in its Australian Manganese Ore imports on M-o-M basis which was 0.03 MnT in Dec’16.

South Africa exports the largest quantity of Manganese Ore to Japan but the numbers are relatively low in Jan’17. Gabon on the other hand did not export any material to Japan in Jan’17 even after being the third largest exporter in CY16.
