Coal exports have fell on yearly basis however monthly exports have increased in Dec’16.
Netherlands coal exports witness drop of 6% Y-o-Y to 36.84 MnT in CY16 compared with 39.09 MnT in CY15, as per data released by Netherlands custom.
Monthly exports rose 45% to 3.29 MnT in Dec’16 compared with 2.27 MnT in Nov’16, yet it was not enough to achieve total exports of CY15.

Grade-wise Coal Exports:
Netherlands majorly exports Bituminous coal and coking coal, along with small quantities of Coke and Semi-coke, Anthracite, Pet Coke and other grades of coal.
In CY16, the country exported 17.21 MnT of Bituminous coal and 5.96 MnT of Coking coal, which accounted for more than 60% of the total coal exports.
Exports of Coking coal, Pet Coke, and Anthracite improved in CY16, while that of the remaining quantities was down in the year.

Quantities in MnT
Major Importing Countries:
Germany is the major coal receiver; the nation imports more than 80% of the total coal supplied by Netherlands.
In CY16, Germany imported 31.12 MnT coal however imports fell minutely by 1% compared with 31.52 MnT in CY15.
Belgium, France, UK, Norway and Spain imports the major share of the remaining coal from Netherlands in CY16. However, coal imports by all these nations have recorded downfall in CY16.
