Recent trade statistics released by Brazil Customs show that Brazil has exported around 24.9 MnT iron ore in Feb’17. Iron ore exports decreased by 15% in Feb’17 against 29 MnT in Jan’17.
Brazilian iron ore export volumes increased in Feb’17 by 17% Y-o-Y compared with the same month in 2016. In the first two month of 2017 Brazil has exported 53.9 MnT iron ore.
The average export price for Brazilian iron ore in Feb’17 was around USD 57.1/MT, FoB Brazil, rose marginally 1.1/MT from Jan’17 as it was USD 56/MT, FoB Brazil. However, the average export prices rose by USD 34.2/MT against USD 22.9/MT Y-o-Y, FoB Brazil in Feb’16.
According to data provided by Inchcape Shipping Services, Brazil, – the country exported 24.9 MnT iron ore via sea route. Vale, the world’s largest iron ore producer exports around 86% of iron ore via sea route.
Out of total exported quantity Brazil exported around 50% iron ore to the world largest importer China in Feb’17, whereas it exported to Malaysia 13%, Japan 10%, and Netherlands’ share was 9% via sea route
