Indian Pig Iron prices move up on decent demand and high input cost

Pig Iron prices in India move up by Rs
200-300/MT on low production and rising Iron Ore cost.

Iron price is stable at Rs 28,000/MT (Basic price) on decent demand. Changes in
NCDEX Steel Long prices result in change of Pig Iron trading
prices,” reported a trader from the city.

“Rourkela Steel Grade
Pig Iron prices have increased by Rs 300/MT and is being quoted at Rs 26,700/MT
(Basic price) on account of improved demand,” said market players in Rourkela.

“Durgapur Steel
Grade Pig Iron is being offered at Rs 27,800/MT (Basic price) with Rs 100/MT
more on decent demand. Plants which have been shut from sometime would start operating next
month only. For the next 15-20 days, prices are anticipated to be stable and stock
of foundry grade might remain unavailable on low production,” remarked a broker
from Durgapur.

“Giridih Steel
Grade Pig Iron prices show an uptrend by Rs 200/MT and trades at Rs 26,500/MT (Basic
price).  Although there is enough of production, demand is not upto the
mark. Prices are unexpected to show further changes,” said a Giridih based trader.
     

According to sources, the prices for Pig Iron in most of the places are
anticipated to remain unchanged for sometime.
