Spot Steam Coal prices fall further

Spot steam coal prices fell further by $1-2/MT for the week
ended on 20th April.

FOB price of Australia's Newcastle Steam Coal stands at
$101.55/MT, down by $ 0.85/MT.

Whereas, FOB price of South Africa's Richards Bay fell by
$2.19 to reach $100.38/MT, the lowest level seen so far in 2012. 

According to reports, lack of buying interest continued to
build pressure on sellers and availability of cheaper Indonesian material lead
to the fall in spot prices of Australian & South African Coal. Orders from
China have also been low.

The Freight cost for Australian Supramax vessels to East
Coast have however increased by $1 to reach around $ 25.50/MT & similarly
cost for Indonesian vessels has increased by $ 0.50-1 to reach 16-18.50/MT.
Freight cost on Brazilian vessels remain unchanged  at $ 25/MT.
