According to the latest customs data, Japan flat steel imports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates), 7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets), 7210/7212(GP/GC) have rose significantly by 12%,M-o-M basis to 0.38 MnT in Jan’17 as compared to 0.34 MnT in Dec’16.
If yearly comparison is made, the nation’s flat steel imports remained stable at 0.34 MnT in Jan’17 as well as in Jan’16.
However, nation’s flat steel imports are recorded at 4.27 MnT in 2016 as compared to 4.25 MnT in 2015.
Grade-Wise Japan Flat Steel Imports
As per grade-wise analysis, 7208 imports increased by 2.55%, M-o-M in Jan’17 against Dec’16 , whereas 7209 also spiked by 54.63% in Jan’17 against previous month. On the similar lines, other flat steel grades imports like 7212 and 7210 rises in Jan’17 as compared to Dec’16.However only grade 7225 declined by 45.94% in Jan’17.

Country-Wise Japan Flat Steel Imports in Jan’17
Korea stood as the major flat steel exporter to Japan and exported 2,66,953/MT in Jan’17 against 27,04,428/MT in Dec’16.Other major countries in include Taiwan and China.
