As per government data, India’s flat steel exports under HS code 7208 (HRC,HR Plate),7209 (CRC), 7225 (electrical sheets) and 7212,7210 (GP/GC) have increased by 10%, M-o-M basis to 0.64 MnT in Jan’17 against the previous month.In Dec’16 the same stood at 0.58 MnT.
According to SteelMint product-wise exports analysis, HRC exports has increased by 50%,M-o-M to 0.33 MnT in Jan’17 against 0.22 MnT in Dec’16.Whereas CRC exports have plunged by 20%,M-o-M basis to 0.12 MnT in Jan’17 against 0.15 MnT in Dec’16.
Electrical sheets exports from India remained stable and GP/GC exports have reported a fall of 33% to 0.12 Mnt in Jan’17 against 0.18 MnT in Dec’16.
During the period of April- January’17 Indian flat steel exports have witnessed the significant growth of 88% to 4.48 MnT as compared to 2.37 MnT in the similar time frame of previous year.
Indian Flat Steel Imports Down 8% M-o-M in Jan’17
As per customs data, flat steel imports witnessed a decline of 8% on M-o-M basis to 0.35 MnT in Jan’17 to 0.38 MnT in Dec’16.
During the span of Apr-Jan’17, flat steel imports have declined by whopping 43.7% to 3.6 MnT as compared to 6.4 MnT in same time period of previous year.
If product wise imports are analyzed on monthly basis then, HRC reported downfall of 15% in Jan’17 against Dec’16. And notably CRC imports also came down by 33 % to 0.05 MnT in Jan’17 against 0.07 MnT in last month.
However, electrical sheets and GP/GC imports remained stable in Jan’17.
