China Plate Export Offers Up marginally despite thin trading
Chinese plate export offers have shown the upward trend this week and have surged their export prices by USD5/MT, w-o-w basis. Despite thin trading and subdued demand, Chinese mills are increasing their plate export offers in the global market.
Currently plate export offers from China are heard to be in the range of USD 475-485/MT, FoB China. Meanwhile Chinese domestic plate prices are assessed in the range of RMB 3,700-3,750/MT which is equivalent to USD 538-546/MT, Prices are including VAT taxes.
Plate exports offers are increasing owing to positive sentiments prevailing in the Chinese domestic market. Domestic plate prices are soaring, providing enough scope to the Chinese manufacturers to raise the plate export offers.
As far as buying activity is concerned, it has become bleak on account of higher export offers. Market participants mentioned that they are winding up with their old inventories instead of making new bookings for fresh stock.
As per sources, Chinese mills have stocked up 10,000 tonnes of plate at the end of January. However traders are selling the products lower than the current offers.
India: Domestic Plate offers at INR 41,000/MT
Indian manufacturers and traders have kept their plate prices stable this week on account of sluggish demand spread in the domestic market. Weak market sentiments coupled with poor demand might lead to further fall in domestic plate prices.
Current prices of commercial grade plate are hovering in the range of INR 36,000-36,500/MT(ex-Mill).Prices are exclusive of excise duty 12.5%.
In major markets prices of plates are seen at INR 40,500-41,000/MT(ex-Delhi) and INR 41,000-41,500 (ex-Mumbai).Prices are inclusive of excise duty 12.5%.
CIS-Countries plate export offers rise marginally
CIS-Origin plate export offers have inched up by USD 10-15/MT owing to bullish sentiments prevailing in China’s flat steel market.
Currently CIS-origin plate prices have recorded in the range of USD 510-515/MT,FoB Black Sea. However,last week plate export offers was in the range of USD 480-505/MT on FoB basis.
