According to the latest custom data released, South Korean flat steel exports under HS code 7208 (hot rolled products), 7209 (cold rolled products), 7225 (electrical sheets)and 7210/7212 (GP/GC) have been increased by 4%, M-o-M basis to 2.01 MnT in Jan’17 against Dec’16. The nation’s flat steel exports stood at 1.93 MnT in Dec’16.
On yearly basis, South Korea Flat steel exports hiked by 5.23% in Jan’17 as compared to 1.91 MnT in Jan’16.
However,during the period of 2016,the country has exported 22.64 MnT ,down by 2% against 23.12 MnT in 2015.
Grade-wise South-Korea Flat Steel Exports
If grade-wise analysis is made, then 7208 exports have risen by 1.65% M-o-M in Jan’17 against Dec’16 whereas 7209,7210 and 7212 have rose considerably in Jan’17 against previous month. Although, other flat steel grade exports like 7225 down by 1.62% in Jan’17 as compared to Dec’16.

Country-wise South Korea Flat Steel Exports in Jan’17
China was the foremost buyer of flat steel from South Korea as it imported 3,58,063 MT in Jan’17 against 3,60,866 MT in Dec’16.Whereas the second largest importer was Japan followed by India, Mexico and Thailand.
