According
to the data provided by Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey's Scrap
imports gained by 11.9 percent from the same period in 2011. In the first
quarter of 2012, Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 5.34 mn MT
However,
in March this year Turkey's steel scrap imports fell by 21.9% from February
this year and were up by 13.3 percent compared to the same month last year i.e.
2011. Total imports in March 2012 reached
to 1.68mn MT.
Meanwhile,
the average price of scrap imports stood at US$ 450/MT i.e. same from February
2012 and down by US$ 20/MT from March 2011
