Pakistan Imposes Anti Dumping Duty Up to 41% on Chinese Galvanized Coil And Sheets

The National Tariff Commission (NTC) of Pakistan has imposed anti-dumping duty on imports of galvanised steel coils/sheets originating form China for a period of five years w.e.f 08 Feb’17.

The duty imposed lies varies from 6-41%. The duty on Angang Steel is 40.47%, on Hebei Iron and Steel is 31.31%, on Bengang Steel Plates is 9.13%, and on Maanshan Iron and Steel is 6.09%.

The duty is imposed on Cost & Freight (CNF) value in advance value on imports of galvanised steel coils/sheets from China on the exporters/producers of this origin.

The NTC had initiated an anti-dumping investigation on 11 Aug, 2015 after receiving requests from Pakistan’s domestic steel industry participants over injury caused to the domestic industry from dumping of cheaper steel goods from China.

China’s steel exports to Pakistan – Pakistan ranks amongst the top ten export destinations for China’s steel exports. In CY16, Pakistan accounted for nearly 3% of China’s total steel exports. In 2016, China exported 108.19 MnT finished steel.

Pakistan’s crude steel production up 23% in 2016 – Pakistan’s crude steel output jumped 23% Y-o-Y from 2.89 MnT in 2015 to 3.55 MnT in 2016.
