Russia, the 8th largest iron ore exporter has exported around 2.08 MnT iron ore in Dec’16, according to the trade statistics released by Russian Customs.
Iron ore exports have witnessed an increase of 46% M-o-M as it was 1.42 MnT in Nov’16. Compared with the numbers for the month of Dec’15 Russia’s iron ore export has seen a marginal increase of 4% Y-o-Y.
For the year 2016, the country exported 18.54 MnT iron ore, down by 13% as it was 21.28 MnT last year.
In Dec’16, the agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) exports were recorded at 1.07 MnT, up by 95% M-o-M and by 114% Y-o-Y. The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps & fines) exports were registered at 1 MnT, up by 15.31% M-o-M however down by 33% Y-o-Y.
Russia iron ore exports are chiefly directed to China followed by UK, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, etc. In Nov’16, exports to China were recorded at 0.65 MnT, UK 0.19 MnT, Czech Republic 0.16 MnT, Slovakia 0.16 MnT, Finland 0.13 MnT and Turkey 0.12 MnT etc.
