The benchmark thermal coal price index of Indonesia (or, Harga Batubara Acuan(HBA) in Indonesian terminology) has fallen by 3.3% in Feb’17 in comparison with that in Jan’17. The fall in the index is attributed to lower demand expected during the month.
The index has declined to USD 83.32/MT FoB in Feb’17 from USD 86.23/MT FoB in Jan’17. However, the index in Feb’17 is significantly high against that in Feb’16, at USD 50.92/MT FoB.

The index, based on select domestic as well as international coal indices, is set by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Government of Indonesia, on a monthly basis.
