- Regular buying supports price stability
- High freight rates affect titanium scrap imports
India’s ferro titanium prices remained broadly stable at INR 370,000/t ($3,900/t) exw, rising slightly by INR 3,000/t ($32/t) w-o-w. Regular buying and balanced supply-demand conditions kept the market stable. A market participant told BigMint, “Elevated freight rates are affecting titanium scrap imports, adding to procurement challenges without establishing a clear upward price trend”.
On the end-use front, India’s stainless steel finished market remained mixed, with selective flat product demand ahead of Diwali. Liquidity constraints and grade-specific shortages continued to influence procurement. 304 HR prices remained stable, while 316 HR prices softened despite tight availability and elevated molybdenum costs. Weak nickel prices and limited buyer purchasing capacity restricted mill price acceptance, while subdued downstream demand weighed on long products.
China’s ferro titanium market remained stable as steel mills resumed procurement after the holidays. However, buyers focused on immediate requirements, while increased tenders for cored wire and high-grade material had limited impact on overall demand. Supply remained steady, with manufacturers producing mainly against orders. Meanwhile, weak titanium concentrate prices provided limited cost support, and steel mills continued to push for lower prices. Traders remained cautious amid price fluctuations and uncertain demand.
Outlook
India’s ferro titanium prices are expected to remain broadly stable in the coming week, supported by regular buying and balanced supply-demand conditions. Elevated freight costs may continue to affect titanium scrap imports.
