- Green energy capacity reaches 2,024 MW across operations
- Renewable power meets about 48% of current requirements
UltraTech Cement has commissioned 116.55 MW of wind capacity at its Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid project in Barmer, Rajasthan, and 10 MW of waste heat recovery system (WHRS) capacity at Sarlanagar Cement Works in Karnataka. With these additions, the company’s cumulative installed green energy capacity has reached 2,024 MW, including 1,580 MW of renewable energy and 444 MW of WHRS capacity.
Green energy capacity expands
The current green energy portfolio meets about 48% of company’s power requirements. In FY27 so far, nearly one-third of its 76 manufacturing units in India have maintained green energy utilisation above 50% of their electricity requirements. Five manufacturing units have exceeded 95%, indicating higher utilisation of captive renewable and recovered energy across the network.
UltraTech Cement has commissioned 430 MW of green energy capacity in FY26 and is progressively integrating battery energy storage systems (BESS) across its operations. The company said storage deployment is aimed at improving renewable energy utilisation and supply reliability as the share of intermittent renewable power increases.
The company has not invested in new captive thermal power capacity for greenfield projects or brownfield expansions at its integrated units for more than a decadeand is increasing its reliance on renewable power, WHRS and energy storage to reduce exposure to conventional electricity and fossil fuel-based generation. UltraTech Cement aims to increase the share of green energy in its total power mix to 85% by 2030.
