JSPL Secured 0.5 MnT Long-Term Coal Linkage from CIL Auction

Jindal Steel and Power Ltd have obtained long-term coal linkages of 0.5 MnT per annum for operating its sponge iron units.

JSPL, an industrial powerhouse with a dominant presence in steel, power, mining and infrastructure sectors, has acquired a long-term coal linkage for the next 5 years in the recently held coal linkage auction under sponge iron sub-sector conducted by CIL.

JSPL operates the largest coal-based sponge iron plant in the world with an installed capacity of 3 MnT per annum of steel at Raigarh, Chattisgarh.

Direct Reduced Iron(DRI) unit located at Raigarh consists of 4 units of 0.72 MnT per annum producing 500MT/day and 6 units of 0.6 Mnt per annum producing 300 MT/day.

It is the only sponge iron manufacturer in the country with captive raw materials resources and power generation.

Apart from the plant at Raigarh, JSPL is planning for expansion in its Angul based site with DRI plant of 2 MnT under construction in Odisha.

The procurement of Coal linkage will help JSPL to meet its fuel requirement and smooth operation of its sponge iron plants.

JSPL has already secured long-term coal linkage of 1.18 MnT per annum for the successful operation of its power plants located in Chattisgarh.

With the recent deal concluded, the total coal linkage capacity of the company has increased to 1.68 MnT.
