India: Lloyds Metals records 36% y-o-y growth in iron ore production in H1FY’27

  • Iron ore output hits a record 10 mnt in Apr-Sep’26
  • Pellet production surges sharply y-o-y in H1FY’27

Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd reported its highest-ever H1 iron ore production at 10 million tonnes (mnt) in H1FY’27, up 36% y-o-y from 7.4 mnt in H1FY’26. The increase was supported by continued strong mining momentum, with the company remaining on track to produce 26 mnt of iron ore in FY’27. The mined ore excludes 8.7 mnt of BHQ, which will be processed after commissioning of the beneficiation plants.

Pellet production surged 372% y-o-y to 3.8 mnt in H1FY’27 from 0.8 mnt in H1FY’26. The sharp increase was driven by the commissioning of the company’s second 4-mnt pellet plant, which increased total pellet-making capacity to 8 MTPA. The company said the new facility achieved rapid ramp-up, with H1FY’27 production implying 100% capacity utilisation.

DRI production increased 104% y-o-y to 343,064 t in H1FY’27 from 167,812 t in H1FY’26. The growth was supported by higher utilisation of the company’s DRI facilities, with capacity utilisation exceeding 90% on a consistent basis. The improvement indicates stronger utilisation across its integrated iron and steel value chain.

The sharp increase in pellet and DRI production, alongside record iron ore output, reflects higher utilisation across Lloyds Metals’ integrated mining-to-downstream operations. The company has also scaled up its pellet-making capacity to 8 MTPA and operates an 85-km slurry pipeline connecting Hedri to Konsari, strengthening logistics integration and downstream value addition.
