India extends deadline for AD investigation into stainless steel cold-rolled flats imports from 3 Asian nations

  • Investigation completion deadline moved to 28 Mar’27
  • Extension approved by India’s central government

India has extended the statutory deadline for completing its anti-dumping (AD) investigation into imports of stainless steel cold-rolled (CR) flat products of 300 and 400 series originating in or exported from China, Indonesia and Vietnam by six months.

The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has revised the completion deadline to 28 March 2027 from the earlier deadline of 28 September 2026 following approval from the central government.

The investigation, initiated on 29 September 2025, covers specific austenitic, ferritic and martensitic stainless steel grades in coils, strips, sheets, plates and circles. The scope excludes hot-rolled flat products, duplex grades and specified 200-series products.

The extension is procedural and does not constitute a preliminary or final finding, nor does it introduce any anti-dumping duty at this stage.

The extension keeps the trade-remedy proceedings open for another six months, leaving the final outcome and any potential duty implications uncertain for Indian stainless steel importers and producers.

China, Indonesia and Vietnam are significant sources of stainless steel supply to India, and any eventual duty determination could influence import economics, supplier competitiveness and domestic pricing dynamics for the covered CR products.
