- Base price of primary lot set at INR 118,600/t ($1,237/t) exw
- Ferro chrome prices stable on regular spot trades
Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has scheduled an auction for 2,050 t of high-carbon ferro chrome across multiple grades and sizes (Cr: 53-64%, 0-100 mm) on 28 September. The base price for the primary 100 t lot of HC ferro chrome (Cr: 60-64%, 10-100 mm) has been set at INR 118,600/t ($1,237/t) exw.
Indian HC ferro chrome prices were assessed at INR 118,600/t ($1,237/t) exw-Jajpur on 23 September, with regular trades providing support and helping prices remain stable. Meanwhile, India’s stainless steel finished market too remained firm on steady domestic demand, tight scrap availability and elevated input costs, although volatile nickel prices, high freight costs and subdued export demand are keeping buyers focused on immediate requirements.
The upcoming auction is therefore expected to provide a key indication of current buyer sentiment, with stable ferro chrome prices and firm stainless steel conditions offering some support, while cautious inventory building could limit upside pressure.
