- Senegal tops listed destinations with 161,580 t scheduled from Kakinada
- 5% parboiled and bagged rice account for major share of shipment pipeline
India’s rice export vessel line-up stood at 1.42 million tonnes (mnt), or 1,423,505 tonnes (t), according to BigMint data last updated on 18 September 2026. The shipments covered major destinations across Africa and other overseas markets, with Senegal recording the highest volume among the individually listed destinations at 161,580 t.
Senegal leads listed destinations
Senegal had 161,580 t lined up from Kakinada, comprising 5% parboiled (PB) rice. Major exporters listed for the destination included Satyam Balaji, Sri Chitra & Satyam Balajee. Guinea followed with 139,800 t from Kakinada, entirely comprising 5% PB rice. Major exporters included Pattabhi Agro, Shree Lalitha, Murali Rice Mill and ABGT Rice. Benin accounted for 122,000 t from Kakinada, also comprising 5% PB rice. The listed exporters included Satyam Balaji, Vardhman Exports, ABGT Rice, Janaki Agro and Honey Overseas.
African destinations dominate line-up
African destinations accounted for most of the individually listed shipments. Togo had 51,500 t from Kakinada, comprising 5% PB rice, while Somalia had 49,900 t of bagged rice from Kandla.
Angola accounted for 47,250 t of bagged rice from Kandla, followed by Ivory Coast at 35,700 t, also from Kandla. Bangladesh had 27,000 t of 5% PB rice from Kakinada.
Cameroon and Congo had 17,000 t and 13,000 t, respectively, both comprising bagged rice from Kandla. Logo had 8,000 t of 5% PB rice from Kakinada, while Yemen accounted for 7,700 t of bagged rice from Kandla.
Others account for largest aggregate volume
The others category accounted for the largest volume at 743,075 t. Shipments were scheduled through Vizag, Kandla and Kakinada, covering bagged rice, 5% PB and 100% white rice. Major exporters listed under this category included Al-Gyas Exports, Satyam Balaji, Bebo Int’l, LDC and CLRK Industries
Kakinada and Kandla remain key loading ports
Kakinada handled the major listed shipments to Senegal, Guinea, Benin, Togo and Bangladesh, with 5% PB rice featuring prominently. Kandla was primarily associated with bagged rice shipments to Somalia, Angola, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Congo and Yemen.
Outlook
The substantial 1.42 mnt vessel line-up indicates a sizeable shipment pipeline for Indian rice, with African destinations accounting for a major share of the listed cargoes. Continued movement of 5% PB and bagged rice is expected to remain central to export shipments, while Kakinada and Kandla are likely to remain key loading ports for the current pipeline.
