India’s non-basmati rice vessel lineup for key export destinations stood at 1.40 million tonnes (mnt) as of 31 August, according to BigMint data. The lineup was concentrated across African and Middle Eastern markets, with Benin accounting for the largest share at 339,500 MT, followed by Mozambique at 81,000 MT. Bagged rice and 5% parboiled rice were the major grades in the current pipeline.
Benin leads export lineup
Benin had 339,500 MT lined up from Kakinada, mainly comprising 5% PB rice. Major exporters included ABGT Rice, Balaji Industries, Bebo Int’l, and Sree Mohana Rice . Mozambique followed with 81,000 MT from Kandla, comprising bagged rice. Major exporters included Florentina Grain, Maya Agri Impex, and Kyna Oversea.
African markets remain active
Senegal had 63,400 MT lined up from Kakinada, comprising 5% PB and white rice. Somalia accounted for 42,200 MT from Kandla, while Guinea had 40,000 MT from Kakinada, mainly 5% PB rice. Saudi Arabia stood at 38,340 MT, comprising bagged rice, while Ivory Coast had 26,500 MT of 5% PB rice. Luanda and Lobito accounted for 21,250 MT and 8,000 MT, respectively.
Kandla, Kakinada remain key hubs
Kandla continued to handle major bagged rice shipments, while Kakinada remained an important hub for 5% PB rice and white rice cargoes. Together, the two ports accounted for the listed shipments across major African and Middle Eastern destinations.
Outlook
The 1.40 mnt vessel lineup points to a firm near-term export pipeline for India’s non-basmati rice. Strong bookings for 5% PB and bagged rice, particularly toward African markets, indicate sustained overseas demand. With Benin, Senegal, Somalia, Guinea, and Ivory Coast among the key destinations, export activity is expected to remain active, while Kandla and Kakinada will continue to play a crucial role in shipment execution.
