South Korea, the world fourth-largest Pig iron importer, after USA, Italy and Turkey, have imported 336,651 MT Pig iron in 2016, according to the trade data released by South Korean Customs.
In 2016, Pig iron imports have witnessed a downfall of 18% Y-o-Y as imports remained at 413,005 MnT in 2015.
In Dec’16, South Korean Pig iron imports have witnessed a downfall of 64% M-o-M as it was 32,086 MT in Dec’16. On similar lines, imports have also moved down by 46% Y-o-Y as it was 21,536 MT in Dec’15.

Russia, the largest exporter of Pig iron to South Korea exported 209,528 MT Pig iron in 2016 against 153,950 MT in 2015. In Dec’16, the country exported 5,981 MT Pig iron, down by 69% M-o-M and 30% Y-o-Y.
China, the second largest Pig iron exporter has exported 74,963 MT Pig iron in 2016 against 110,801 MT in 2015. In Dec’16, the country exported 3,268 MT, down by 62% M-o-M and 39% Y-o-Y to South Korea.
South Africa, the third largest Pig iron exporter to South Korea has exported 16,194 MT in 2016 against 17,685 MT in 2015. In Dec’16, the country exported 1,400 MT against 1,512 MT in Nov’16. In Dec’15, the country exported 1,700 MT Pig iron.
