Indian Petcoke Prices Stay Stable on Moderate Demand

Stable domestic prices, stagnant import offers at high rates and moderate demand were the key facets of the Indian Petcoke market this week. The market has not changed from the previous week.

Import offers of Petcoke(6.5% Sulphur) from USA has remained at USD 104-105/MT CFR India. Import offers of Petcoke (9% Sulphur) from Saudi Arabia also have stood-still at USD 90/MT CFR India.

Likewise, the domestic ex-works prices are at: INR 6,350/MT (Reliance Industries Limited) and INR 6,340/MT (Essar).

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has priced its Petcoke at INR 6,364/MT(ex-works), for customers outside the Karnataka state. And, for the buyers outside Karnataka, MRPL has priced the fuel at INR 6,264/MT(ex-works).

Demand in the country has stayed moderate as the prime consuming segment—the cement industry—curtailed production due to slowdown in the construction sector.

IMPORTS

In line with the moderate demand, imports also have shrunk. During the first half of Jan’17, 144.87 ‘000MT of Petcoke was imported into the country, data compiled by CoalMint Research shows. The importers were: Shree Cement, Ramco Cement, Sanvira Energy and Gulf Petrochem Energy Private Limited.
