- 2 MTPA pellet plant resumes normal production
- Operations restarted amid improved market conditions
Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd has resumed normal production at its 2 MTPA iron ore pellet plant at Phase-II, Siltara Industrial Area, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, the company said in an exchange filing dated 29 August 2026.
The plant had been under temporary production suspension of around 45 days since July 2026. The restart restores production capacity at the facility and could improve the company’s pellet availability following the temporary shutdown.
The company recorded a pellet production of 2.86 million tonnes (mnt) in FY’26, up 17% y-o-y compared to 2.45 mnt in FY’25. Despite the expected guidance cut, pellet production increased 34% y-o-y to 903,900 t in Q1FY27 from 673,750 t a year earlier and remained broadly stable compared with 911,350 t in Q4FY26. Iron ore production declined 16% y-o-y to 537,832 t from 642,243 t in Q1FY26 and was down 20% q-o-q from 673,452 t in Q4FY26.
Additionally, BigMint’s pellet index – PELLEX rose by INR 700/t m-o-m basis, currently standing at INR 10,800/t DAP. The price rise was a cumulative effect of short supply in the market coupled with active buying in sponge iron which gave upward felling in prices and later led to pellet price hike.
