- Domestic prices fall RMB 150/t ($22/t) m-o-m in Aug

China’s leading stainless steel producers, Tsingshan and TISCO, have reduced their September 2026 high-carbon ferro chrome (50% Cr basis) tender prices by RMB 100/t ($15/t) m-o-m. Tsingshan has set its September procurement price at RMB 7,995/t ($1,190/t), while TISCO’s tender price stands at RMB 7,795/t ($1,160/t) DAP, including taxes.
The latest tender price cuts come amid softer domestic ferro chrome prices, which declined by around RMB 150/t ($22/t) m-o-m in August. Market sentiment remained subdued as elevated ferro chrome production and ample availability continued to weigh on prices. Meanwhile, as per Mysteel Global, China’s ferro chrome output reached a record high in July, increasing by 5% m-o-m to around 0.9 mnt, adding to supply pressure.
Additionally, stainless steel demand remained relatively subdued in August, limiting mills’ procurement appetite and keeping ferro chrome buyers cautious. The latest reductions by Tsingshan and TISCO indicate continued pressure on ferro chrome producers amid high supply and restrained downstream demand. Similar tender cuts in August were attributed to ample supply, lower raw material costs, and weaker seasonal demand.
With domestic ferro chrome prices also trending lower and production remaining elevated, market sentiment is expected to stay under pressure unless stainless steel demand strengthens or supply-side curtailments emerge.
