India: Ferro titanium prices steady w-o-w amid balanced market fundamentals

  • Balanced supply-demand supports stable prices
  • Firm stainless demand provides market support

Ferro titanium prices remained stable w-o-w at INR 365,000/t ($3,814/t) exw-India, as supply and demand remained largely balanced and routine trades supported market levels. The domestic stainless steel market also provided support, with higher raw material costs, tight availability and healthy demand keeping finished steel prices firm. Limited scrap availability and elevated freight costs continued to make imports less viable. Finished long products also remained firm, supported by improving enquiries ahead of the festive season, although tight scrap availability continued to challenge mills.

China’s ferro titanium market remained stable despite subdued trading and a weak supply-demand balance. Smelters maintained low operating rates and sales-driven production, keeping inventories controlled and limiting supply pressure. Firm raw material and energy costs, along with narrow margins, strengthened sellers’ resistance to price cuts. Meanwhile, seasonally weak demand from special steel and stainless steel mills kept buying limited to immediate requirements.

Outlook

Indian ferro titanium prices are likely to remain stable in the coming week. Balanced supply-demand conditions, firm stainless steel prices and elevated input costs should provide support.
