Canada monthly coal export increased by 11% in Nov’16. Besides, Yearly shipments recorded a significant growth, compared to Nov’15.
Canada, among the top ten coal exporters in the world, has shipped 3.2 MnT coal in Nov’16 with a growth of 11%, compared to last month. While, the country had recorded 2nd highest coal import quantity in Nov’16 since the begging of the year. Yearly exports have also noted a significant growth by 30% which was at 2.45 MnT in Nov’15. As per Canada customs data.
Out of the total exports, the country has supplied more than 80% Bituminous coal to different destinations and rest quantity comprises Pet coke and Coke.

Quantity in MnT
In the first eleven months of 2016 (Jan’16-Nov’16), coal exports have increased by 2% to 30.97 MnT, compared with 30.22 MnT in the same period of 2015.
Major Importing countries in Nov’16
Japan, one the major coal export destinations from Canada, received about 1.07 MnT coal in Nov’16 with significant growth of more than 100% M-o-M. Also, yearly export rise by 30% compared to Nov’15.
India, the second-largest coal receiver during the month, imported 0.47 MnT coal in Nov’16 rise by 18% M-o-M. While, Yearly imports have decreased by 98% Y-o-Y.
China, the third largest coal importer, received around 0.40 MnT coal in Nov’16, with an increase of 100% M-o-M, as Indian imports was nil Oct’16. In contrast, country’s yearly coal imports fell by 2%, compared to Nov’15.
