USA Coal Exports Increase by 12% in Nov’16

USA monthly coal exports rise by 12% in Nov’16 as compared to last month. Also, witnessed a yearly growth of 14% compared with Nov’15.

USA, world’s fourth largest coal exporter, shipped about 8.64 MMst coal in Nov’16 with an increase of 12% compared with last month. This is the second-highest monthly coal exports in 2016 following 8.91 MMst in Jun’16.

Grade-wise coal export in Nov’16
Out of the total monthly exports, USA majorly shipped Bituminous, Metallurgical bituminous and Pet coke. These three grades account for more than 90% of the total coal exports in Nov’16.Other grades include Anthracite, Coke and other grades.

USA Coal exports in 2016
During Jan-Nov’16, USA has supplied 84.76 MMst coal down by 12% compared to 96.29 MMst during the same period of previous year.

Country-wise coal exports in Nov’16
Netherlands is the largest importer of coal quantity during the month, followed by Mexico and Canada as the 2nd and 3rd largest importers in Nov’16.

Netherlands, the largest buyers of US grade coal and consumed about 0.93 MMst coal in Nov’16; up by 20% compared to last month. While yearly imports down by more than 19%, which was at 1.15 MMst in Nov’15.

Mexico, the second-largest coal importer received about 0.85 MMst coal in Nov’16, with an increase of 18% M-o-M. The yearly imports showed a remarkable growth by 70% Y-o-Y.

Canada, the third-largest importer of USA coal in Oct’16, imported about 0.74 MMst coal. Monthly imports have remained the same as it was in Oct’16, while the imports moved down 3% Y-o-Y.
