South Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (SECL) has scheduled a 705,050 t non-coking coal e-auction under the Single Window Mode Agnostic (SWMA) scheme on 10 August 2026. The offering comprises both road and rail dispatches across multiple grades, catering to a wide spectrum of industrial consumers.
G11: Largest auction volume anchors the offering
The Chhal cluster dominates the auction with 300,000 t, making it the single largest allocation. The offering includes 100,000 t with representative notified price of INR 1,184/t through the road mode and 200,000 t via the Chhal rail silo offering G15 grade with notified price of INR 737/t. All supplies will be sourced from Chhal OC, making it the most competitively priced and highest-volume segment of the auction.
The Jagannathpur G11 cluster offers 80,000 t, comprising 30,000 t through road dispatch and 50,000 t via rail. The representative notified price stands at INR 1,188/t, while the floor price is INR 1,426/t. The coal will be sourced from Jagannathpur, ensuring consistent supply through both evacuation modes.
G8: Premium underground coal offered at higher realisations
SECL has earmarked 24,000 t under the Beherabandh cluster through the road mode. The representative notified price stands at INR 1,931/t. Supplies will originate from Beherabandh through road mode, further West JKD, Haldibari, Rajnagar, Kurasia, and Rajnagar mines, providing buyers with access to multiple loading points through road mode and operational flexibility with notified price of INR 2,540/t.
Another 4,000 t has been offered under the Dhelwadih cluster via road dispatch. The representative notified price remains INR 1,931/t. The entire quantity will be supplied from road mode.
The Khairaha cluster also contributes 40,000 t through the road mode at a representative notified price of INR 1,931/t. Coal will be sourced from Amlai, Sharda HW, Rampur Batura, Bangwar, Damini, Khairaha, and Rajendra mines for G6 grade at a notified price of INR 2,761/t, ensuring diversified sourcing options.
G13: Large-volume offering to support industrial demand
SECL has allocated 100,000 t under the Saraipalli cluster through the road mode. The representative notified price is INR 1,016/t. The entire quantity will be supplied from Saraipalli through road mode, making it one of the largest single-grade road offerings in the auction.
G6: Mid-grade coal portfolio with diverse mine mix
The Sharda cluster accounts for 44,000 t under the road mode, carrying a representative notified price of INR 2,761/t. Supplies will primarily originate from Sharda through road mode with quantity of 40,000 t with representative notified prices of INR 2,761, also supported by coal from Amlai, Bangwar, Damini, Khairaha, Rajendra, and Rampur Batura mines through rail mode offering 4000 t, providing buyers with a blended sourcing basket.
G3: High-value coal offered through road and rail
The Churcha cluster represents one of the highest-value offerings in the auction, with a total quantity of 95,000 t. Of this, 15,000 t will be dispatched by road, while 80,000 t will move through the Churcha rail siding. The representative notified price has been fixed at INR 3,449/t. Supplies will originate from Churcha, making this cluster attractive for consumers requiring higher-grade coal with rail logistics.
Market outlook
The auction offers a balanced mix of premium underground and high-volume opencast coal across road and rail modes. Competitive pricing and ample availability of G14 and G13 are likely to support stronger participation, while demand for premium grades is expected to remain selective amid cautious industrial procurement.
