- Improved bookings encourage sellers to raise offers

India’s induction furnace (IF) steel prices increased d-o-d across regions on 27 July 2026.
Sponge iron prices rose INR 300-500/t d-o-d across locations, with the sharpest increase of INR 500/t seen in Raipur and Raigarh locations, where prices reached INR 25,600/t and INR 24,700/t respectively.
Billet prices rose by INR 100-800/t d-o-d across locations, with the highest increase of INR 800/t recorded in Ahmedabad, where prices reached INR 41,800/t.
Rebar (Fe 500) prices were up by INR 200-600/t across locations. The steepest rise of INR 600/t was recorded in Raipur to INR 40,700/t.
Prices increased d-o-d, supported by improved bookings in the semi-finished and finished steel segments across key regions. The market witnessed a gradual recovery in sales activity during Saturday’s trading session, strengthening overall buying sentiment.
Improved demand encouraged sellers to raise their offers. In addition, smooth dispatches and the lifting of previously booked material reflected steady offtake and reinforced market confidence.
If procurement activity and fresh booking orders continue at the current pace, prices are expected to remain firm through the remainder of this week.
The conversion spread from sponge iron (PDRI) to billets for the standalone induction furnaces in the Raipur cluster was assessed at INR 13,550/t.
