India: Vedanta-FACOR’s ferro chrome production rises 4% y-o-y in Q1 FY’27

  • Ferro chrome output reches 29,000 t
  • Highest-ever chrome ore output recorded, up 41% y-o-y

Vedanta-FACOR’s ferro chrome production stood at 29,000 t in Q1 FY’27, up 4% y-o-y while remaining broadly flat q-o-q. Meanwhile, chrome ore production climbed to a record 153,000 t in Q1 FY’27, rising 41% y-o-y and 35% q-o-q, strengthening captive raw material availability for ferro chrome production.

Higher ore output strengthens raw material availability

The sharp growth in chrome ore production was primarily driven by the successful restart of operations at the Kalarangiatta mines, which significantly improved ore availability. Production was also supported by proactive stockpiling ahead of the monsoon season to ensure uninterrupted raw material availability and operational continuity during periods of weather-related mining disruptions.

Captive ore integration underpins ferro chrome operations

The higher availability of captive chrome ore, particularly high-grade material, improved feedstock quality and strengthened smelter operations, enabling consistent ferro chrome production. The integrated mining and smelting operations allowed the company to offset seasonal disruptions and sustain production levels, underscoring the operational advantages of increased captive ore availability.
