India’s induction furnace (IF) steel prices showed mixed trends d-o-d across regions on 20 July 2026.
Sponge iron prices remained unchanged d-o-d.
Billet prices witnessed mixed trends by INR 50-500/t d-o-d across major markets, with the sharpest hike of INR 500/t seen in Hindupur.
IF-route rebar (Fe 500) prices witnessed a mixed trend, moving by INR 100-400/t d-o-d across key markets. The steepest increase of INR 400/t was recorded in Bangalore, while prices in Jalna and Jaipur declined by INR 100/t each. Prices in the remaining major markets largely remained stable.
Market sentiment remained mixed today across the billet, sponge iron, and finished steel segments, with trading activity staying subdued. Order bookings across most major regions were lower as buyers continued to procure material only for immediate requirements. Although sellers initially attempted to hold prices, limited and need-based demand prompted mills and traders to offer discounts to facilitate sales.
The conversion spread from sponge iron (PDRI) to billets for the standalone induction furnaces in the Raipur cluster was assessed at INR 14,200/t.
