India: Nuvoco Vistas strengthens western region footprint with commissioning of Limla cement grinding plant

  • 2 mnt/year grinding unit part of Vadraj Cement, which was acquired in Jun’25
  • Commissioning supports Nuvoco Vistas’s 35 mnt/year capacity target by FY’28

Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Ltd has commissioned a 2 million tonnes (mnt) per year cement grinding unit at its Limla Cement Plant in Surat, Gujarat, marking a significant milestone in integrating the assets acquired through Vadraj Cement Ltd. (VCL) under the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP). Vadraj Cement was acquired for INR 1,800 crore in June 2025, and the portfolio includes a clinker unit at Kutch and the Limla grinding unit, which has formed an important part of Nuvoco Vistas’s long-term capacity expansion strategy.

New facility improves regional supply network, market access
The Limla plant is expected to anchor cement makers’ phased volume ramp-up in Gujarat while strengthening its ability to cater to customers across Gujarat and neighbouring western Maharashtra. By serving these markets through a strategically located grinding unit, the company can optimise freight costs, shorten delivery timelines, and redirect cement volumes previously supplied from its northern plants to meet demand in north India, improving overall supply chain efficiency.

Capacity expansion reinforces long-term growth, competitive positioning
The commissioning supports Nuvoco Vistas’s ambition to increase its cement capacity to 35 mnt/year by FY’28, strengthening its presence in one of the country’s fastest-growing cement markets. The addition enhances the company’s manufacturing network, improves operational flexibility, and positions it to capture future demand from infrastructure, housing, and industrial development while reinforcing its competitive standing in western India.
