- Stable costs underpin prices
- Moderate demand keeps trading subdued
Indian ferro titanium prices stayed largely stable with a slight uptick of INR 1,600/t ($17/t) w-o-w to INR 375,600/t ($3,936/t) exw-India. Firm pricing from suppliers continued to underpin the market, while spot trading remained need-based. Procurement by steel mills was largely restricted to immediate requirements, reflecting cautious demand and limited buying interest. Meanwhile, producers held firm on offer prices, supported by stable raw material costs and healthy order books, limiting the scope for price negotiations.
Market updates
Firm offers support prices: Firm supplier offers and stable production costs kept domestic ferro titanium prices stable during the week. Producers maintained prevailing offer levels, supported by comfortable order books and relatively tight spot availability. With limited pressure to liquidate inventories, sellers showed little willingness to negotiate, helping prices remain steady despite subdued trading activity.
Moderate demand caps buying: Steel mills maintained cautious procurement, purchasing ferro titanium primarily to meet immediate production requirements. Weak downstream demand kept spot enquiries limited, while buyers remained reluctant to build inventories.
China market trends: China’s ferro titanium market remained largely range-bound last week, supported by tight titanium scrap availability and elevated aluminium powder prices, despite ample low-grade supply. High-grade prices softened marginally amid seasonal weakness in steel demand, while low-grade prices held stable. Steel mills continued need-based procurement despite multiple July tenders, keeping overall buying volumes limited.
Outlook
Domestic ferro titanium prices are expected to remain stable in the upcoming week, supported by firm supplier offers, stable production costs, and tight spot availability. However, seasonal weakness in steel demand and need-based procurement by mills are likely to keep spot trading subdued, limiting the scope for any significant price movement.
