Sluggish Indian Anthracite Coal Market Sees Lower Import Offer, Nil Import

Muted atmosphere has continued to engulf the Indian Anthracite Coal market. Import affinity among buyers in the country is almost nil as they preferred alternate fuels over the coal variant.

In contrast to the Indian market, demand for the coal has been strong in the international regions as consumption by power plants increased to meet the peak power demand during the winter season.

According to the inputs received, stocks of Anthracite Coal in Ukraine were up at 932,000 MT, to be consumed by the power plants.

Import offers have, however, gone down than that in the week last. The latest import offer was assessed around USD 2/MT lower at USD 128/MT CFR India.
