- Sponge iron prices rise by INR 100/t d-o-d
- Semis, finihsed steel prices jump INR 100-350/t
BigMint’s domestic end-cutting scrap index, tracking the Mandi Gobindgarh market, increased by INR 400/t d-o-d to INR 38,200/t DAP on 24 June 2026. The rise was supported by improved buying activity across the semi-finished and finished steel segments, prompting scrap suppliers to raise offers by INR 200-400/t. The upward movement reflects strengthening sentiment in the secondary steel market, although participants remain cautious amid inconsistent end-user demand.
A local mill owner informed BigMint: “Bookings for HR strip (patra) improved noticeably from yesterday evening, with the momentum continuing through today’s trading session. The improvement in strip demand helped support sentiment across the value chain and translated into firmer scrap buying activity.”
