South Korea’s Nov’16 coal Imports recorded a growth of 9.5% to 11.6 MnT. Besides yearly imports up by 17.5% during the month.
South Korea, world’s 4th largest coal importer, received around 11.6 MnT coal in Nov’16, according to the trade statistics released by South Korean Customs.
Country’s coal imports have increased by 9.5% in Nov’16, compared to last month. While, Yearly coal imports in Nov’16 have also rose by 17.6% when compared with Nov’15.
Grade-wise coal import in Nov’16
Out of the total imports, the country receives more than 85% bituminous coal from the different origins and rest quantity comprises Anthracite, Coke and Pet coke every month.

Quantity in MnT
South Korea coal import in 2016
In the 1st eleven month of the year, South Korea has imported about 122 MnT coal with a downfall of 2%, which was 124 MnT in the same consecutive period last year.

Australia, the largest exporter of coal to South Korea, supplied more than 40% coal every month. The county exported about 4 MnT to South Korea in Nov’16, up by 9.2% M-o-M and down by 15.3% Y-o-Y basis.
Indonesia, the second-largest coal exporter to South Korea, shipped about 3.1 MnT coal during Nov’16 with an increase of 10.5% M-o-M. While, yearly export has also noted a significant growth of 36.4% which was 2.3 MnT in Nov’15.
Russia, the third largest coal exporter to South Korea, exported around 2.3 MnT coal in Nov’16, up by 29.5% M-o-M. While, yearly export noted a significant growth by 27.2%, compared to Nov’15.
