SAIL’s Chandrapur Ferro Alloy Plant has recently started operating the 45 MVA submerged arc furnace which has the production capacity of 100,000 tonnes-per- annum of high-carbon Silico manganese, Ferro manganese and low/medium carbon ferro manganese. Post starting the operation, the unit is the only public sector producer of manganese alloys in the country.
This has been made possible with the help of Tenova Pyromet which successfully delivered their part of contract with SAIL. This furnace is claimed to be competitive as it incorporates the latest technology.
